The case of an Uzbek national suspected of smuggling 30 kg of cocaine from Europe into Turkey was heard in court.

The Consulate General participated in this court and disclosed the details of the incident.

The Consulate General writes that on 16 October 2025, the next (third) court session was held at the Bakırköy 17th High Criminal Court in Istanbul regarding the case of a 22-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, originally from Samarkand region. 

It is reported that diplomats from the Consulate General also attended the court proceedings.

Within the framework of this case, charges related to the illegal import of narcotic substances and their circulation were considered against our citizen. According to the investigation materials, a total of 6 individuals and several others still under investigation are accused of importing 30 kg of cocaine and 800 kg of psychotropic substances into Turkish territory from European countries via a cargo truck.

Our compatriot worked in a wooden box manufacturing workshop located near the parking place of this truck in 2023-2024. He was apprehended and detained as a suspect because he was present in the area during an operation conducted by law enforcement agencies.

According to the report, at the conclusion of the court session, the judge reviewed the case materials and decided to revoke the detention measure and order his release.
