The Polish government has announced the full closure of its border with Belarus on the eve of the start of joint Russian-Belarusian military exercises. This was announced by Prime Minister Donald Tusk before a government meeting.

According to him, the exercises are being conducted in an area very close to the Polish border and are leading to an increase in the number of provocations. Therefore, starting from midnight on Friday, road and railway border crossings with Belarus will be closed.

Experts point to the Suwałki Corridor, a 65 km stretch of land separating Poland and Lithuania, as one of the main objectives of the exercises. This area is called NATO's "Achilles' Heel," and the possibility of a future military clash there is not ruled out.

Lithuania has also stated that it will strengthen border control with Belarus and Russia due to the "Zapad-2025" exercises.
