The Supreme Court commented on the mitigation of the sentence for the former head of "Toshshahrtranxizmat" Anvar Juraev.
It was reported that the appellate court modified the initial verdict, replacing the 7.5-year imprisonment with a 4.5-year restriction of liberty.
The main reason for this was the full compensation of the 2.4 billion soums in damages caused by Juraev and other defendants as a consequence of the crime.
According to the court, Article 167, Part 4 of the Criminal Code was taken into account, which stipulates that harsher penalties should not be applied if the damages are compensated. Additionally, Juraev was deprived of the right to hold material liability and managerial positions for a period of 3 years.
Citizens dissatisfied with the court's decision may file a complaint or appeal under the supervisory review procedure.
