Russian journalist Yuri Dud may face an investigation under the article of "treason against the state." This was reported by the TASS news agency.
"Yuri Dud's actions may contain signs of Article 275 of the Criminal Code – treason against the state. The punishment involves long-term deprivation of liberty," the report states.
If a case is initiated against the journalist under the aforementioned article, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
According to reports, this statement appeared shortly after Dud published an interview with the former U.S. ambassador to Russia, Michael McFaul. However, Dud has not yet responded to the situation.
It should be noted that earlier, the Russian government declared Dud a "foreign agent," and later he was accused of failing to fulfill obligations related to this status. An arrest warrant was issued for the journalist, and he was placed on an international wanted list.
The journalist moved to Spain in 2022 after Russia's invasion of Ukraine. In recent years, he has faced several official pressures.
In November 2023, after his interview with Victoria and Vadim Tsiganov, an investigation was launched against him for "discrediting the army," and in the summer of 2022, he was fined under the "gay propaganda" article.
