Russia and Iran are conducting military exercises in the Caspian Sea.

On July 21, the joint naval rescue exercises titled "Caspian Sea Joint Naval Rescue Drills – 2025" between Russia and Iran began in the Caspian Sea. The exercises involve ships from the Iranian Army, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and the Russian Navy.

Representatives of the naval forces of other regional countries—Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan—are observing the drills.

Within the framework of the joint military exercises, rescue operations, maritime security, and coordinated actions will be tested.
