US President Donald Trump's deputy chief of staff John Coale disclosed details of the meeting with Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko.
According to Politico, this meeting took place during dinner over drinks.
"I drank two glasses, but refused the third," said Coale. During the meeting, the issue of releasing political prisoners was discussed.
For reference, on June 21, Lukashenko pardoned 14 political prisoners, including Sergei Tikhanovsky, one of the leaders of the 2020 protest demonstrations.
Politico assessed this meeting as a sign of change in Trump's approach to foreign policy.
