The MV Eternity C cargo ship belonging to a Greek company was attacked by Houthi rebels near the coast of Yemen and sank in the Red Sea. As a result of the incident, at least four people died, and several others were seriously injured. This was reported by “DW Glavnoe” and “Reuters” agencies.
There were 22 sailors on board: 21 were citizens of the Philippines, and one was from another country. According to AFP sources, after the attack, at least five people were rescued, two were injured, one of them — a Russian electromechanic, who lost his leg.
The ship sank near the port city of Hodeidah. This area is currently under the control of Houthi rebels.
Since October 2023, the Houthi rebels have been regularly attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea. These actions are being done to force Israel to stop strikes on the Gaza Strip.
The latest victim of a Houthi attack is a Greek ship and its innocent crew. This indicates the severe worsening of the security crisis in the Red Sea.
