Yesterday, July 2nd, in the evening local time, a major maritime disaster occurred off the coasts of Bali Island, Indonesia.

According to local rescue services, there were a total of 65 people on board the ill-fated ferry - 53 passengers and 12 crew members.

According to an official police statement, 23 people have been rescued so far, while four have died. The rescue operations are still ongoing.

Local police, rescuers, and maritime defense services have been involved in the search for the missing.

The event occurred approximately 25 minutes after the ferry departed from the island of Java, i.e., before it reached its destination.

It is also noted that the ferry was carrying trucks and other vehicles.

According to local media reports, a few minutes before the disaster, the ship's crew reported a technical malfunction in the engine.

However, this has not yet been confirmed as the definitive cause of the disaster.

Currently, officials are investigating the causes of the accident. Experts are not ruling out a possible technical problem, weather conditions, or human factor.
