News had spread on social networks that drivers can only operate taxis in the area where they are registered.
According to the Minister of Transport Ilhom Makhkamov, the licensing of unassigned taxis is carried out based on the area of self-employment indicated in the license application, regardless of the area where the vehicle is registered, and is up to the taxi driver's choice.
In other words, a taxi driver can operate in any area they wish, regardless of where their vehicle is registered.
For example, the owner of a vehicle registered in Bukhara region first registers as a self-employed person and then chooses the area where they will conduct their taxi activities. Afterward, they submit a composite application to obtain a license.
Secondly, an unassigned taxi must operate in the area (chosen by themselves) and adjacent areas (Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions, and Tashkent city) as indicated in the taxi license.
In other words, restrictions are set for the area indicated on the license. For example, after obtaining a license, the owner of a vehicle registered in Bukhara region is allowed to conduct activities in Tashkent city and the adjacent Tashkent region if they have chosen Tashkent city as their area of operation.
Thirdly, the vehicle's license plate belonging to a specific region does not constitute a requirement or condition that the license is granted only for that specific region.
That is, the vehicle being registered in a different region does not serve as a basis for refusing to grant a license.
