Romania has experienced its most severe floods in the last 30 years, causing serious damage to several regions of the country. Following heavy rainfall on May 29, 2025, dozens of settlements in the Botoșani, Covasna, and Brașov counties were submerged, with hundreds of people being evacuated, reports "Zamon.uz".

One of the areas most affected by the flooding is the salt mine "Praid" located in Transylvania. This location is not only a site for salt mining but also hosts an amusement park for tourists, a medical center, and an underground chapel. The overflow of the Korund stream has led to water entering the production and tourist sections of the mine. It was reported that an underground dam collapsed due to the pressure of the water.

Officials are worried about the possibility of the salt reserves dissolving in the water, as well as the local population losing their source of income. At the moment, authorities are waiting for the water level to decrease to start the recovery process. The Hungarian government has offered help to its neighbors.
