A religious blogger known by the pseudonym Mubashshir Ahmad, Alisher Tursunov, was arrested by law enforcement agencies in Turkey on May 8 and deported to Uzbekistan on May 10. The Ministry of Internal Affairs press service reported this.
According to the ministry, the information disseminated on social networks through the information platforms founded by Alisher Tursunov contained information that, according to the relevant expert conclusions, was contrary to the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
For this reason, criminal charges have been initiated against him under Article 244−1 (Preparation, storage, dissemination, or presentation of materials threatening public safety and public order / fine from two hundred to four hundred times the basic calculation amount or corrective labor up to three years or restriction of freedom for one to three years or imprisonment for up to three years) and 244−3 (Illegally preparing, storing, importing, or distributing religious materials / fine from one hundred to two hundred times the basic calculation amount or corrective labor for up to three years) of the Criminal Code, and a pre-trial restraint measure in the form of detention has been applied.
Currently, the relevant investigative actions are being carried out within the framework of the criminal case, the ministry reports.
