South Korean intelligence reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un sent another "gift" to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Pyongyang, which previously provided assistance with weapons and military force, is now sending labor migrants to Russia.

About 15,000 workers from North Korea were sent to Russia. Most of them entered the country on a student visa. The workers mainly work in the Far Eastern regions of Russia. At the same time, local business representatives and officials hope that North Korean workers will soon come to Moscow and other major cities.

Employers expressed their appreciation for their willingness to work 12 hours a day without objection in exchange for low wages.

According to a WSJ source, the number of North Koreans entering Russia in 2024 increased 12 times compared to last year. This contradicts the sanctions imposed by the UN Security Council, which prohibits Pyongyang from using labor migrants abroad. Nevertheless, Russia and China have repeatedly violated these restrictions.
