The Committee for the Development of Competition and Protection of Consumer Rights has examined the activities of “UztemiryoʼlYoʼlovchi” JSC and “Urban Passenger Transportation” LLC based on the laws “About Competition” and “On Protection of Consumer Rights”.
During the investigations:
• “UztemiryoʼlYoʼlovchi” JSC's Fergana branch (division) has collected nearly 660 million UZS from intermediary fee for 606,380 sold tickets along the railway stations during the year 2023;
• “Urban Passenger Transportation” LLC's Fergana branch has collected nearly 560 million UZS from intermediary fee for 185,806 sold tickets along the railway stations from January 1 to July 24, 2024;
• in total, it was found that almost 1.3 billion UZS was excessively charged from 792,186 consumers.
Based on the findings, the special commission of the Committee instructed “UztemiryoʼlYoʼlovchi” JSC and “Urban Passenger Transportation” LLC to return the excessively charged amounts for intercity and suburban passenger transportation by the Fergana branch to the consumers, and a financial penalty was applied. Additionally, instructions were issued to remedy the violations and to prevent future occurrences, which must be complied with.
