The Government of the Russian Federation has decided to extend the period of temporary stay in the country for professional drivers engaged in international road transport.
According to the new procedure, drivers from Uzbekistan may now stay in Russia for up to 180 days during a calendar year, instead of the previous 90 days. This change will take effect from June 30, 2026.
It is noted that the decision applies to a special category of foreign citizens working in the field of international logistics. This initiative was previously raised by business representatives and was developed at the intergovernmental level, with the participation of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Russia.
We remind that the issue of extending the period of stay in the Russian Federation had been repeatedly raised by business representatives during the "Open Dialogues" involving a government commission led by Jamshid Khojaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan.
The Embassy also stated that drivers must submit an application with copies of documents confirming their identity and international transport activities to enter and stay in Russia. A step-by-step guide on this process has also been published.
