According to the Financial Times, Ukrainian officials are demanding an acceleration of the integration process in negotiations with the United States and the European Union. They criticize the EU's enlargement policy and emphasize that Brussels is also interested in Kyiv.
European officials, however, say that such an approach is complicating the negotiations and that a process based on clear criteria cannot be accelerated. One source described this as "membership is not a gift."
It is noted that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his team may not fully understand the EU's enlargement mechanisms. At the same time, Zelenskyy has instructed diplomats to push only for full membership, not alternative formats.
