Today, on April 21, Shavkat Mirziyoyev officially received Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, who was on a visit to the country. The meeting discussed issues of developing cooperation on modernizing and strengthening the national healthcare system with the World Health Organization.
It was noted that in recent years, cooperation with the organization has been elevated to a new stage, and large-scale reforms in the healthcare system are being implemented based on international standards and recommendations. This includes training qualified personnel, improving the system of primary medical care, diagnosis and prevention, and introducing state medical insurance.
The WHO Director-General particularly acknowledged the expansion of access to medical services, the increase in life expectancy, the decrease in maternal mortality, and the development of digital healthcare in Uzbekistan. The parties agreed to expand practical cooperation in regulating the pharmaceutical sector and implementing digital solutions and artificial intelligence.
