President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, in his address to the participants of the international forum on "Ensuring public health and safety through transnational anti-narcotics efforts," emphasized that the drug trade has become a global threat. According to him, the drug business is not only a crime but also a major source of the shadow economy that finances terrorism.
The head of state noted that restricting financial sources is of decisive importance in the fight against drug crimes and proposed introducing unified identification standards for crypto exchanges, enhancing information exchange with offshore zones, and developing mechanisms for the automatic blocking of funds from "unknown sources." Furthermore, an initiative was put forward to create an "international digital blacklist" system that identifies the movement of illicit funds.
Citing UN data, Mirziyoyev noted that over 300 million people worldwide are under the influence of narcotic substances, and nearly 600,000 people become victims of this affliction annually. It was emphasized that this threat is also affecting Uzbekistan, and it was stated that the fight against drug crimes in the country has been turned into a nationwide movement.
Within the framework of the forum, a number of initiatives were put forward, such as creating a unified international digital platform operating on artificial intelligence, establishing the Central Asian Association of Narcologists, and developing special development programs for high-risk regions regarding drug trafficking.
