According to him, in the elections held on April 12, more than 2.25 million voters supported the candidates of "Fidesz" and the Christian Democratic People's Party. Orban noted that while this result was sufficient for a major victory in 2014, this time it led to defeat.
The Prime Minister said that "Fidesz" remains the most organized political force in the country and indicated that the party's activities will continue. He announced that in the coming weeks the party will be reorganized, visits to all regions will be carried out, and a nationwide council meeting will be held on April 28.
According to the latest data, the Fidesz party has secured 56 mandates in the 199-seat parliament. Victory, however, went to the "Tisza" party led by Peter Magyar, which secured a majority with 136 seats.
Magyar has promised to fight corruption, carry out reforms, and develop a new constitution. He also stated that he is in favor of distancing the country from Russia and strengthening its role in NATO.
Orban, however, is seen as one of Vladimir Putin's key partners in Europe. Previously, former US President Donald Trump also supported him.
