The number of traffic accidents since the beginning of the year has been announced.

31 percent of the incidents ended with human fatalities, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.

According to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, 1,102 road traffic accidents occurred in Uzbekistan in the first three months of the current year. 31.4 percent of them — 346 cases — resulted in fatalities.

It is noted that 13.6 percent of the traffic accidents occurred as a result of drivers failing to yield to pedestrians, 32.9 percent due to non-compliance with the established speed limit, 4.2 percent due to drivers falling asleep while driving, and 22.4 percent due to failure to obey traffic light signals.

During the first stage of the "Safe and Healthy Country" month, 43,931 rapid-search and preventive measures were carried out, uncovering 4,009 cases related to drug addiction, 4,789 cases of organized crime, 25,475 cases of corruption, and 6,348 cases in the direction of combating terrorism.

Furthermore, 489.7 kilograms of narcotic substances and nearly 308,000 units of potent medications were seized, and it was discovered that 1,541 plants containing narcotic substances were being cultivated. It was also reported that 457 firearms and 6,584 rounds of ammunition were confiscated from organized criminal groups and individuals.
