The Senegal Football Federation announced it will appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the decision to strip the national team of the Africa Cup of Nations title.

The federation's statement described the decision of the Confederation of African Football's (CAF) appeal committee as "unjust and unacceptable." It was also emphasized that this situation damages the prestige of African football.

According to an earlier CAF decision, Senegal was deemed defeated in the final match against Morocco, and the championship title was awarded to Morocco.

It is known that during the final controversy, Senegalese players, dissatisfied with a penalty awarded by the referee, left the field before the match ended. This was assessed as a violation of the competition regulations.

For this reason, Senegal was deprived of the championship, and the cup was handed over to the Moroccan national team.
