It is reported that this decision was adopted at the advisory meeting of the Fatwa Committee under the Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the Organization of Turkic States, held in Samarkand city on February 2-4.
The event was organized under the leadership of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, with the participation of religious administrations and Islamic scholars from member countries of the organization.
It is noted that the joint decision adopted on determining the dates of the month of Ramadan and the Eid al-Fitr holiday is aimed at strengthening unity among the Muslim communities of Turkic states and harmonizing religious practices with modern scientific approaches.
The composition of the Fatwa Committee includes representatives of official Muslim religious administrations from the Organization of Turkic States member countries—Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan—as well as observer states—Turkmenistan and Hungary.
We recall that earlier, the Religious Board of Muslims of Kyrgyzstan announced that the month of Ramadan would begin on February 19, and the first Tarawih prayer would be performed in the country's mosques on the evening of February 18.
Similarly, the religious administrations of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan had previously provided information regarding the preliminary dates for the Ramadan and Eid holidays for the year 2026.
