On January 21, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law establishing the legal framework for the use of artificial intelligence. This was reported by the information service of the Ministry of Justice.
The document introduces amendments and additions to the law "On Informatization," defining the general foundations for the use of artificial intelligence technologies and the powers of the authorized state body in this sphere.
It defines artificial intelligence as a set of technological solutions capable of imitating human knowledge and skills, independent learning, and producing results close to human intellectual activity in performing specific tasks.
According to the law, relying solely on conclusions from artificial intelligence-based information systems when making decisions affecting human rights and freedoms and having legal significance is prohibited. The human factor must be mandatory in making such decisions.
Furthermore, administrative liability has been established for the unlawful processing of personal data using artificial intelligence technologies and for their dissemination through mass media, telecommunication networks, or the internet.
In particular, it is envisaged that the tools of the offense will be confiscated and a fine ranging from 50 to 100 times the base calculation amount—from 20.6 million soums to 41.2 million soums—will be imposed. The law comes into force from the day of its official publication.
