On January 20, the Margilan City Court for Criminal Cases issued a verdict against Elyor Tojiboev, the special correspondent for the "Antikorruptsiya" publication in the Fergana region. The press service of the regional courts reported this.

The court found Tojiboev guilty of crimes related to slander, insult, incitement, resistance to government officials, damaging documents, and spreading false information. The sentences were combined, and he was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months of imprisonment.

However, based on Articles 60 and 61 of the Criminal Code, the previous conditional sentence was revoked, and Tojiboev was sentenced to 4 years in a strict-regime colony.

For reference, he was also tried in 2021 and was serving a sentence in a penal colony. The "Antikorruptsiya" publication has stated that the court proceedings in this case have been protracted and that the journalist has complained several times about the violation of his rights.
