A court verdict was read against a citizen of Andijan who participated in the Russia-Ukraine war in exchange for avoiding imprisonment in Russia.

According to the information, I.Kh., a resident of Andijan city, went to the Russian Federation in December 2022 for work and was engaged in delivery services via the "Yandex" platform in Moscow and Chelyabinsk. I.Kh. was detained in January 2023 by law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation for a crime related to the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs and was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment by the Chelyabinsk City Court.

While serving his sentence, he received an offer about the possibility of avoiding punishment by participating in the ongoing armed clashes between Russia and Ukraine, and in August 2024, he signed a contract with the Russian Armed Forces and entered military service as a regular soldier. In August-September of the same year, he participated in battles conducted in the city of Donetsk with an assigned AK-74 assault rifle. During the battles, he received severe bodily injuries as a result of a shell explosion.

According to the forensic medical examination, the accused permanently lost more than one-third of his general working capacity, and an "Ilizarov" apparatus was installed on his left leg. After the injuries, I.Kh. underwent long-term treatment in military hospitals belonging to the Russian Federation.

In September 2025, I.Kh. returned to Andijan based on consular documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

In the criminal case, the Jalalkuduk District Court found I.Kh. guilty of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 154 of the Criminal Code. He was sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment. However, based on Article 72 of the Criminal Code, this sentence was replaced with a conditional one, and he was given a 2-year probation period—a sentence of restriction of liberty (house arrest).
