Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, responding to complaints about pre-trial detention conditions, reminded that the pre-trial detention center is "not a resort," writes "zamon.uz".
"I myself spent two years in pre-trial detention: the first time for nine months, the second time for three and a half years. Did I complain? No, I endured it because it was a pre-trial detention center," said Japarov.
The President also noted improvements in the penal system. "Previously, people in prison succumbed to corruption, but now conditions have improved. Prisoners are provided with three free meals a day, clothing, and the same uniform for summer and winter. They work and some even send money home," added Japarov.
Sadyr Japarov reminded that he was held in pre-trial detention twice, informed that the main criminal case was related to the events in the Issyk-Kul region in 2013, that he was released during the mass protest demonstrations in 2020, and that he was elected President of Kyrgyzstan in 2021.
