Fines within the "Ecological Transport" (eco-sticker) system will be enforced not from 2026, but starting from 2028. 2026 is considered a period for the phased implementation of the system, informing drivers, and forming an ecological culture.
According to officials, the main goal of this system is not to punish drivers, but to improve the quality of urban air by reducing the amount of harmful gases emitted by vehicles. It is noted that toxic emissions are causing climate change, rising air temperatures, and acid rain.
The system also envisages a number of conveniences for drivers. For instance, once a vehicle's technical condition improves, there is an opportunity to change the sticker color from red or yellow to "green." For this purpose, modern diagnostic centers operate in all regions of the republic.
Furthermore, through a unified electronic system and road cameras, drivers will be informed in advance about which areas they can or cannot enter. Officials have once again emphasized that no driver will be fined in 2026.
