Recently, the number of deepfakes, fake news, and fabricated videos being created with the help of artificial intelligence and distributed on social networks has been increasing. Among other things, fraudsters are attempting to lure citizens into gambling schemes based on chance by using the voices and appearances of well-known figures.
The Committee reported that an advertisement for a gambling game called "Chicken Road," prepared in the name of the wordsmith Elmurod Haknazarov, was identified as having been distributed. During the investigation, Haknazarov stated that he had no connection to this advertisement, that his voice had been fabricated using AI, and called on citizens not to fall for such scams.
It was also noted that blogger D. Nazarov from the "dili.me" page and blogger A. Abdurakhmanov from the "abdurakhmanmufid" page did not advertise gambling games either—the distributed videos were fabricated content edited using AI without their participation.
The Competition Committee asked citizens not to trust suspicious advertisements using the likeness or voice of celebrities, especially content related to products prohibited by law. Relevant information has been sent to law enforcement agencies for a legal assessment of this situation.
