According to the report, 60 percent of the women killed—50,000—were killed by the men they lived with or by family members. Among men, this figure is only 11 percent.
The UN states that the highest rate was recorded in Africa—there are 3 deaths per 100,000 women. The Americas region is next.
Germany also announced its annual statistics. In 2024, 308 women and girls were killed in the country as a result of violence. In 191 of these cases, the perpetrator was reported to be a spouse, former partner, or family member.
