In North Korea, two entrepreneurs operating in the field of electric bicycles and battery-powered motorcycles were publicly executed on charges of "anti-republican activity."
It was noted that after they achieved success, they "became arrogant," set high prices, and treated the population with "disrespect."
It is said that more than 200 people, including children, were forced to watch the execution carried out in Pyongyang. The entrepreneurs were arrested in August and, after interrogation, were sentenced to death at the beginning of September.
They were also accused of illegally exchanging foreign currency and spreading anti-state propaganda in cooperation with an external organization.
After the execution, trade in the market sharply declined, their related businesses were closed, and it was reported that the battery market had collapsed.
According to local sources, the incident was an open signal to entrepreneurs that "if you cross the line, the consequences will be severe."
