After an appeal was filed with the DIA regarding the theft of polyethylene cellophane from the field of an LLC engaged in horticulture in the Khovos district, it became known that two senior operational officers of the department with the ranks of lieutenant colonel and major forcibly took four citizens to the department.

The operational officers threatened them with "detention" and demanded 55 million soums in exchange for stopping the case. Later, it is said they took 24 million soums "to cover the damage." Additionally, they demanded an extra 11 million soums to not initiate a criminal case and to send the documents to court adjusted for administrative liability.

During an urgent operation conducted by the DIA for the Syrdarya region, the regional prosecutor's office, and the Main Directorate of Personal Security of the DIA, they were caught red-handed while receiving the 11 million soums.

A criminal case was initiated against them under Part 2, clauses "v" and "g" of Article 210 of the Criminal Code (bribe-taking), and the preventive measure of "imprisonment" was applied. Investigative actions are ongoing.
