According to Politico, the Donald Trump administration is considering exile options for Maduro that would allow him to go to Russia, Turkey, or Cuba. Sources in the White House indicated the likelihood of a "green light" being given for Maduro to go to Russia.
According to Atlantic sources, Maduro has stated in negotiations with US and Venezuelan representatives that he is prepared to resign if amnesty, the cancellation of rewards for his capture, and safe exile are guaranteed. Until now, Trump has expressed readiness to negotiate with Maduro, but a meeting time has not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced the start of a military operation named "Southern Spear." It is reported that a major strike group led by the USS Gerald R. Ford aircraft carrier has entered the Caribbean Sea. The ship has more than 4,000 military personnel and combat aircraft on board.
Maduro, in turn, addressed the public, calling on Trump not to let the situation escalate. According to Reuters information, last week potential military strikes against Venezuela were discussed in the White House.
For reference, if Maduro goes to Russia, he will join the ranks of former leaders who have found refuge in Moscow — such as Viktor Yanukovych and Bashar al-Assad.
Furthermore, before the escalation of tensions with the US, Maduro signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Russia on Putin's birthday.
