South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Malian TikTok blogger Mariam Cissé, who had more than 90 thousand subscribers in the north, was brutally killed by a jihadist group because of her activities.
According to reports, the incident occurred in the city of Tonka. The blogger was kidnapped and murdered because she filmed and shared events in her area on social networks.
The victim's family and local authorities confirmed the incident. According to sources, she may have been killed based on the unsubstantiated accusation of "transmitting information to the Malian army."
The incident has once again brought the issue of the safety of bloggers and social media activists in the country to the forefront.
