Passenger and freight trains collided in India's Chhattisgarh state, resulting in 11 deaths and 20 injuries. This was reported by NDTV.

Reportedly, the passenger train hit a stationary freight train. The front carriages were severely damaged and even ended up on top of the second train. Emergency services and medical teams reached the incident site quickly and provided first aid to the injured. Among those rescued is an infant.

As a result of the incident, the electrical network and signaling system were damaged, which halted train traffic. An investigation has been initiated; preliminary information suggests the driver could not apply the emergency brake in time.
