On October 30, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take part in the opening ceremony of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference on Education, Science and Culture in Samarkand.

The historic session of the General Conference is being held outside UNESCO's headquarters in Paris for the first time in forty years. Hosting such a large-scale international forum in Samarkand will be a clear confirmation of Uzbekistan's commitment to the ideals and values of the organization, as well as its firm desire to actively contribute to the development of global dialogue on the path of peace, mutual understanding, and sustainable development.

Within the framework of this important session, it is planned to hold more than 150 events of various formats dedicated to discussing key issues in the fields of education, science, culture, ecology, technology, and communication.

Holding such an influential international event in one of the world's most ancient and magnificent cities has a special symbolic meaning. It testifies to the high level of trust of the world community in Uzbekistan and the growing influence and activity of the country in promoting intercultural dialogue, preserving historical and cultural heritage, and developing humanitarian cooperation.

The event will be attended by high-level delegations from more than 200 countries and international organizations, including President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić, President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini, UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay, and other distinguished guests.

UNESCO is a specialized agency of the United Nations, established in 1945 to strengthen peace and security by developing international cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, and communications.

The Republic of Uzbekistan became a full member of UNESCO in 1993. The opening of the organization's representative office in Tashkent in 1996 was an important step in strengthening our country's cooperation and multifaceted partnership with this influential international structure.
