In Russia, in the third quarter of this year, more than 35 percent of foreigners could not pass the Russian language exam on the first attempt. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the Russian Ministry of Education and Science.

It is reported that a total of more than 275 thousand people took the exam in the Russian language, Russian history, and legislation. Although 86.9 percent of them passed successfully, 35.1 percent of the participants did not pass the exam on the first attempt.

The opportunity to take the exam has been organized in a total of 203 centers across all regions of Russia, as well as in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. 88 of them operate under Russian universities.

For reference, these exams are conducted at three levels: the first — for obtaining a work permit, the second — for obtaining a temporary residence permit, and the third — for obtaining a document granting the right to permanent residence.

The exam consists of three sections, which test knowledge of the Russian language, Russian history, and legislation.
