According to Donald Trump, the Donbas region needs to be "divided" to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine. In his opinion, both sides should stop at the current front line and hold negotiations.
“Seventy-eight percent of the region is already under Russia's control, and the situation should be left as it is,” Trump said in an interview aboard Air Force One.
He also denied a report by The Financial Times that he had urged Zelenskyy to give up Donbas completely to Russia. "I did not say that," he said.
Trump added that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to reduce purchases of Russian oil, otherwise the US would exert pressure through tariffs.
