A verdict was issued against A.B., the head of the Yangiyer city tax department, who had been harassing a local businesswoman in the Syrdarya region for several months. This was reported by Nova.uz.

It is reported that the man persistently sent her personal messages, sent tax inspectors to her shop several times, and proposed "evening tea meetings," pretending to be concerned about her situation. All of this happened while the woman's husband was away.

Fearing the harassment, the woman did not leave her house for several days and did not go to her shop. According to the verdict, A.Begmatov was fired, and the case was classified as "petty hooliganism."

"This incident is not an isolated case but reflects society's failure to take the risk of harassment and stalking seriously. Despite clear signs of sexual harassment, it is unclear why the case was initiated under the article of 'petty hooliganism.' This legal assessment leaves women unprotected and gives perpetrators a sense of impunity," the report says.
