Legislation on protecting children from sexual violence and pornography is being strengthened in Uzbekistan.
The draft law discussed at the plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis envisages introducing liability for the possession of pornographic products depicting children, establishing specific norms against online sexual violence, and strengthening penalties.
According to the law, the duration of interrogating minors will be clearly defined—it is now required to complete an interrogation within one day. This serves to protect children from excessive psychological pressure.
Political parties, experts, and a representative for children's rights were also involved in the discussion of the draft law. A number of norms were edited out, and the draft was refined in accordance with legal requirements.
