On September 15, the first instance court decisions in the criminal case against former Minister of Agriculture Aziz Voitov and 61 other individuals were announced in the Mirabad District Court of Tashkent city. The court found Voitov guilty of misappropriation or embezzlement on a particularly large scale.

He was sentenced to 3 years of corrective labor, a deduction of 30% of his monthly salary to the state income, and a fine in the amount of 400 times the BCA (Basic Calculation Amount). He was also deprived of the right to hold leadership and financially responsible positions for 3 years.

The court statement emphasized that a sentence of deprivation of liberty was not applied because the inflicted damage had been fully compensated. According to court documents, Voitov agreed to transfer the funds from his deposit account to the state income.

Within the same case, the former director of the Agency for Services in Agriculture, Husniddin Karimov, was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months of imprisonment.

Of the remaining 60 defendants:

9 were sentenced to imprisonment,

51 were sentenced to non-custodial penalties.

We recall that Aziz Voitov was relieved of his ministerial post in October 2023, and he was formally charged in December of that year.
