In Turkey, the Republican People's Party (CHP) participated in a rally and expressed discontent ahead of the court proceedings scheduled for September 15.

The court will consider the annulment of the results of the party's congress held in November 2023. It was at that congress that Özgür Özel was elected as the party leader. He could be removed from his position.

The CHP rejects the accusations and links the case to political reasons. At the rally, Özel stated: "What is happening is an organized coup attempt against the future president and government."

The party outperformed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Justice and Development Party in the 2024 local elections and is increasingly gaining popularity in the ratings.

According to Reuters, over the past year, more than 500 CHP members have been arrested on corruption charges, including the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu in March, which also caused major protests across the country.
