Plans are underway to increase the speed limit to 80 km/h on five streets in Tashkent, including Tkhay, Ahmad Donish, and Yangi Uzbekistan. This was announced by Elmurod Alimov, deputy head of the capital's Road Traffic Safety Department.
It was reported that changes to the speed limit for vehicles are planned on five streets in Tashkent, along with the introduction of one-way traffic on 12 streets. According to Elmurod Alimov, deputy head of the Road Traffic Safety Department, 500 traffic lights can be equipped with uninterrupted power supply.
"We are proposing to increase the speed limit for vehicles to 80 kilometers per hour on Bunyodkor, Sebzor, Ahmad Donish, Tashkent Ring Road, and Yangi Uzbekistan streets in Tashkent," he said.
In cities, the permitted speed limit was reduced from 70 to 60 km/h in April 2023.
Additionally, a proposal has been made to implement one-way traffic on 12 streets (the specific ones were not named). This initiative is being advanced based on an analysis of local and international experience to reduce congestion and road accidents, ensure traffic safety, and improve convenience for road users.
