The residents of 17 villages in the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan have completely given up alcohol consumption. This was reported by "Nur.kz".

According to reports, the number of crimes committed while intoxicated in the region has decreased by 3.3%, with the main reason being the "Cultural Society" project. As part of this initiative, residents of 17 villages have completely abstained from alcohol.

The project has been actively supported by the public. Public commissions have been established in cities and villages, consisting of citizens, elders, religious scholars, and local activists. They provide assistance and moral support to those who have given up alcohol, as well as conduct awareness-raising activities.

For reference, the "Cultural Society" project has been implemented in the Kostanay region since September 2024. Its goal is to prevent crime, combat harmful habits, and foster a healthy cultural environment.
