According to the American ISW (Institute for the Study of War), Russia is turning the airport in Donetsk into a base for attack drones targeting Ukrainian territories.
Based on the analysis of Ukraine's OSINT project "Cyberberkut," ISW reports that the airport's runway is being cleared, and control points and specialized storage facilities are being built for drone operators.
Analysts suggest that Shahed-type attack drones and decoy drones called "Gerbera" may be launched from here.
Launching drones from an area close to the front lines reduces Ukraine's air defense response time and, as ISW notes, could also increase the threat to European and NATO countries.
