Sayyora Abdikarimova sent a request to Jurabek Mirzamahmudov demanding an explanation for the mass power outages in Tashkent. According to her, the power supply interruptions are causing widespread public complaints, disruptions in business activities, and threats to road safety.
The Deputy Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management, and Environmental Issues, Sayyora Abdikarimova, addressed Energy Minister Jurabek Mirzamahmudov with a senator's inquiry via an appeal.
The recent increase in power outages in Tashkent is negatively affecting the daily lives of residents, social infrastructure, and business activities.
"Numerous complaints have been raised by residents and entrepreneurs regarding 3–4-hour power outages. These interruptions are adversely impacting not only citizens' daily lives but also the operations of businesses. Problems are also arising in the stable functioning of social infrastructure facilities.
In particular, disruptions in traffic light operations are causing difficulties in regulating traffic, posing a threat to road safety. Additionally, production and trade facilities are suffering significant financial losses due to the failure of cooling systems, and households are experiencing malfunctions in household appliances," the Senate report states.
For reference, according to Article 39 of the Law "On Electric Power," consumers have the right to receive high-quality and stable electricity. Furthermore, as emphasized in Article 61 of the same law, supply interruptions or restrictions may only be implemented to prevent accidents or eliminate emergencies.
In this regard, Deputy Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agrarian, Water Management, and Environmental Issues, Sayyora Abdikarimova, sent a senator's inquiry to the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamahmudov, seeking appropriate clarifications.
