U.S. Congress member, Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, became the first Republican to call the situation in Gaza "genocide." She mentioned this in her statement on social media on Monday.

"The events that occurred in Israel on October 7 were horrific, the hostages must be freed. But the genocide in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis, and the famine are equally horrifying," Greene said.

With this statement, she openly opposed her own party members who have been unconditionally supporting Israel.

Her words are being interpreted as a response to Congressman Randy Fine from Florida. Fine faced criticism last week for describing images of starving children in Gaza as "Muslim propaganda for terror."

Marjorie Greene had previously called for condemning Democrats who criticized the conditions in Gaza. Now, she herself is criticizing Israel's actions.
