The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has significantly expanded its temporary detention capacity for individuals who have entered the country illegally. This was reported by Zamon.uz here.

According to reports, under the new plans, ICE is preparing to use large tent camps as temporary detention facilities. These measures are expected to help curb the flow of illegal immigrants and expedite deportation processes.

The Trump administration has identified the lack of sufficient detention space as a major obstacle to the rapid deportation of illegal immigrants. Therefore, plans are in place to increase the total number of temporary detention center spots to 100,000 by the end of 2025.

Currently, there are over 200 immigration detention facilities operating in the U.S. Most of them are managed by private contractors. According to ICE data, the daily cost of detaining each immigrant ranges between $150–$200.

The new tent camps could primarily be established in border-adjacent regions such as Texas and Arizona. The Trump administration intends to implement this system as one of the key immigration policy directions if it wins the 2025 elections.
