Plans are underway to intensify the fight against the circulation of drugs and psychotropic substances in Uzbekistan. This was announced by the Minister of Internal Affairs Aziz Toshpulatov on Tuesday, July 8, in an interview with the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel following the meeting attended by Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

"Despite the fight against harmful agents and the destruction of laboratories, the problem has not been fully resolved. Therefore, it was pointed out the necessity of using surveillance cameras and artificial intelligence to detect the spread of narcotic substances and eradicate their sources completely," — states the press service of the head of state.

According to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the circulation of drugs and psychotropic substances has increased worldwide, including in Uzbekistan. "If 2138 kg of psychotropic and narcotic substances were seized in 2024, in just the first six months of 2025, this figure exceeded 1890 kilograms," — he said.

According to him, in accordance with the president's instructions, efforts aimed at "preventing this disaster that is taking our citizens' lives" will be intensified. "The Ministry of Internal Affairs, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, will consistently conduct 'Safe and Healthy Country' campaigns," — the Minister announced.
