Reports of 24 minors enrolled in Quranic courses in Istanbul's Bahçelievler district, related to the Directorate of Religious Affairs, becoming victims of sexual violence are causing widespread public discussion. The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul informs about this.
It is being clarified through local government authorities that among the victims, there are citizens of Uzbekistan.
Previously, unrelated to the above situation, it was reported that incidents of sexual violence against underage citizens of Uzbekistan had been identified in illegal religious education institutions operating within the territory of Turkey, and a number of individuals had been held accountable.
"Do not entrust your children to strangers and send them to unofficial religious education institutions abroad. Their fate and safety depend on your attention and responsibility!
If you have definite information about suspicious educational institutions or cases of violation of children's rights, we urge you to immediately contact the Consulate General," - says the consulate's report.
