In Uzbekistan, the dairy sector of the livestock industry is being rapidly developed. On May 14, the presidential decree on the implementation measures of the Uzbekistan dairy sector's value chain development (phase 2) project involving the “International Fund for Agricultural Development” was adopted.
According to the decision, the main targeted indicators of the project were set, including:
- Establishing 100 dairy collection points serving a total of 320 neighborhoods, 12 thousand people, and farm households in Jizzakh, Qashqadaryo, Sirdaryo, Samarkand, and Surkhandarya regions;
- Organizing the allocation of preferential loans of up to 250 thousand US dollars to establish and modernize enterprises processing milk for 865 people and farm households;
- Launching the software support of the National Dairy Products Platform that connects milk producers and buyers;
- Training 1,200 people and farm household representatives in raising livestock productivity by foreign experts.
The total value of the project is 53.01 million dollars, with the International Fund for Agricultural Development providing a preferential loan of 30 million dollars for 25 years and a grant of 7.8 million dollars for financing. The project cost includes 5.94 dollars equivalent of the participants' share, 9.27 million dollars equivalent of the funds, including tax, customs, and office rental expenses payment of 3.69 million dollars, and financial expenses during the investment period of 5.558 million dollars equivalent considered as Uzbekistan's share.
The implementation period of the project is 7 years (2025–2031).
