Ankara supports peace between Russia and Ukraine and both countries agree to hold negotiations in Turkey. This was discussed yesterday, May 11, during a telephone conversation between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin opened up.
It is reported that during the conversation, Putin proposed to restart negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul. According to the Turkish side, Erdogan told Putin that his country is ready to provide a venue for Russia-Ukraine negotiations. Moreover, Erdogan emphasized that the "window of opportunity for peace has opened."
Furthermore, according to Turkish publications, Erdogan also mentioned the creation of necessary conditions for a complete cessation of hostilities as an additional point.
In addition, the leaders expressed mutual interest in further expanding trade and investment relations, including implementing strategic joint projects in the energy sector.
